A reintroduction of E. M. Jellinek, founding father of modern addiction science.

E. M. Jellinek stands out as one of the most important, if not mythical, founders of alcohol and addiction studies in the modern era. Because of his profound influence on the field, historians of science and other scholars have attempted to document his unique career and evaluate its relevance to contemporary addiction science. The May 2016 issue of the Journal of Studies on Alcohol and Drugs, a journal he helped to establish, contains three pieces that celebrate the 125th anniversary of his birth. The articles may be of interest to younger addiction scientists as well as those who have already established careers in the addiction field.  Those pieces are:
